Before you leave home
- Check the date, reporting time and venue on your admit card.
- Carry a printed admit card and an identity document accepted by IAPT.
- Check the centre address and travel plan in advance.
- Take the writing materials specified in the official instructions.
- Check the current permitted-items list; do not assume calculators or electronic devices are allowed.
Before you start solving
- Read the paper’s printed instructions, including marking and permitted equipment.
- Check your roll number and question-paper code before filling the OMR.
- Understand which questions are single-correct and which allow multiple correct options.
- Follow the invigilator’s directions if a printing or booklet issue occurs.
A practical two-pass strategy
First pass: collect the questions you can solve accurately without getting stuck. Mark those worth revisiting.
Second pass: return to longer or less familiar questions. For multiple-correct questions, test every option independently.
Reserve time to check OMR alignment. This is a suggested strategy, not an official rule; test it in practice papers first.
After the examination
Keep the paper code with your score calculations. Use the official key for that code, and distinguish a tentative key from a final one. Any objection process must follow IAPT’s published dates and procedure.
A calculated score is not a confirmed qualification. Wait for the official shortlist and remember the separate INPhO registration.
